X-Lite is a free SIP software phone available from http://www.counterpath.com

Installing & Configuring X-Lite:

1.  Download the latest version free from http://www.counterpath.com
   
   
2. Once the installaion file has downloaded, double click the file.
   
   
3. Follow the instructions to install X-Lite on your computer.
   
   
4. Once installed start the X-Lite application.
   
   
5. Click the Add button.
   
   
   
   
6. Enter the information as in the example below, use the extension number and password provided by your system administrator and use your server's IP or hostname for the domain. Click the Apply button when done.
   
   
   
   
7. Your screen should now look like the one below.
   
   
   
   
8. Click the Close button. The phone will initialize and when done it should look like the one below.
   
   

Set Codec (very Important) dont skip.

1. You should now be able to make calls by clicking the dial-pad numbers or using the number-pad on your keyboard. Dial *43 to do an echo test, you should be able to hear your own echo.

Troubleshooting

• ♦ If your phone gives you an error message after configuring the settings double check your extension number, password, and domain are entered properly.
  ♦ If your extension number, password, and domain are entered properly but your phone still gives an error contact your system administrator.
  ♦ If you have issues with sound, make sure your headset or microphone is not muted. Also check the Device settings under the X-Lite options, make sure the proper devices are enabled for the headset and speakerphone.
