This section will show you how to configure system parking. Call Parking is basically putting a call on system wide hold. While on a call a user can transfer the call to the Park Extension, the system respond with a Park Code. Any user can then pick up that call by dialing the Park Code for the call. - Login to FreePBX as described here.
- Click the Setup tab at the top of the page.
- On the left side of the page click the Parking Lot link under Internal Options and Configuration.
- Configure the Paging Group using the guidelines below.
Parking Lot Options - Enable Parking Lot Feature - Check this box to enable to Parking Lot
- Parking Lot Extension - Set the Parking Lot Extension number, the default is 70 and in most circumstances should not be changed.
- Number of Slots - Choose the number of slots available to park calls. These slots will be numbered in sequence continuing from the Parking Lot extension number. If the Parking Lot extension is 70, the slots will be numbered 71 thru 79. When a call is parked it will be assigned one of these slot numbers, anyone may pick up the parked call by dialing this number.
- Parking Timeout - Select the length of time before a parked call times out to the Destination for Orphaned Parked Calls.
- Parking Lot Context - This sets the internal context for parked calls. This is for advanced use.
Actions for Timed Out Orphans - Parking Alert Info - This will change the ring tone on the phone when calls ring this orphaned call. Check your phone manual for available options.
- Caller ID Prepend - Enter a short prefix for the Caller ID name of the orphaned calls . This enables members to identify which the call as an orphaned parked call by viewing the caller ID name on their display. For example, entering "Parked:", would cause the orphaned call's caller ID to read "Parked:John Doe".
- Announcement - Choose a system recording to play to the orphaned call before connecting them with the destination for orphaned calls.
- Destination for orphaned calls - Choose the destination for a parked call that has exceeded the timeout limit. This should usually be set to the receptionist extension, or a ring group that will ring all phones.
- Click the Submit button when done.
- To apply the changes click the red "Apply Changes" Bar in the upper right corner of the page.
FreePBX
FreePBX is a web based administration tool for the Asterisk Open Source PBX. This is where you will program your extensions, trunks (lines), and IVR menus. As well as your inbound and outbound call routing. This interface is intended to be very straight forward and offers hints for almost every setting. Simply roll your mouse over the setting name, if there is a hint for the setting you will see a pop-up box with information regarding the setting. Mozilla Firefox is the suggested web browser for using Freepbx Internet Explorer is not currently supported due to it's lack of compliance with Internet standards. FreePBX also includes a basic Call Detail Reporting package, this application will show basic incoming and outgoing call information. The application will also allow for the call records to be searched and sorted, data may be exported as a CSV or PDF file. This package will not report call queue information or statistics. |
