Alternate Caller ID Route |

It is often required in businesses for callers to send a private or alternate caller id number when dialing out. This how to guide will describe how to build a seperate trunk with a private or alternate caller id number, then it will walk you through the steps required to setup a route for the trunk. This example will allow users to dial *67+ the phone number to use the alternate caller id.
Building the Custom Trunk
- Login to your Freevoice PBX admin page, then click the FreePBX link under the Asterisk tab.
- Click the Trunks link onthe FreePBX setup page.
- Click the Add a Custom Trunk Link.
- Fill in the fields as in the example below. You should change the Outbound Caller ID field to the desired caller id, if you want to send no caller id use "private" <private>. The example shows a Freevoice IAX trunk, if you are using another provider set the Custom Dial String field appropriately. Change the 1714 in the Dial Rules field to your local area code prefixed with a 1.
- Click the Submit Changes button, then click the orange Apply Changes bar at the top of the page.
- Follow the instruction below to create the outbound route for this trunk.
Creating the Outbound Route
- Click the Outbound Routes link in the FreePBX Setup page.
- Fill in the fields like in the example below.

- Click the Submit Changes button, then click the orange Apply Changes bar at the top of the page.
- You should now be able to dial out using *67+ the number, these calls should have the alternate caller id specified in the trunk settings.
